Russian Work Permits
If you are planning on working in the Russian Federation according to the law “On the legal status of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation”, you have to get permission to work from the Federal Migration Service (FMS). This will then enable you to have a one year multi-entry working visa which means you may pay taxes, apply for local credit and mortgages, don’t have to leave the country after the usual ninety days and may get your work permit renewed automatically at the end of the year without leaving the country.
Issuing Working visas and Work Permits are entirely at the discretion of your company and your General Director. Every company in the Russian Federation who recruit, hire or contract foreign workers must apply for permission for their foreign employees through the local employment center for a ‘quota’. A quota is the therefore the first step for any company and this is the number of potential foreign employees wishing to work for that particular company.
The work permit consists of a plastic card with all your passport details, name of company, position within the company and the date of issue and expiry of the permit. Prior to receiving the plastic card you must undergo very stringent medical tests where the FMS require the medical examinations to be at three nominated Government hospitals. The tests include venereal diseases, drug and TB tests. You will also need medical documentation confirming negative test on Aids, Hansen’s disease, Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, Syphilis, Clamydiosis, Shankroid and Rabies.
Visa2day has been assisting with work permits for a number of years and can cut down the time, cost and effort that you have to put into this difficult process. With our contacts in the Ministry of Health and the FMS we can help small to large companies by minimizing some of the steps needed to be taken and therefore cutting down on the cost.
Work Visa and Work Permit
(Visa2day can help with this process from beginning to end)
Step 1 – Company applies for a Quota for the number of foreign employees wishing to work
Step 2 – Company receives permission to engage foreign labour
Step 3 – Federal Migration Service (FMS) prepare (but do not issue) the work permit (plastic card)
Step 4 – All employees must undergo medical tests and receive the relevant medical certificates
Step 5 – Work Permit is swapped for medical certificates by the FMS.
Step 6 – Company receives three month single entry visa for the employees.
Step 7 – Employees reenter the Russian Federation with the three month visa and this work visa will
therefore be extended according to the expiry date on the work permit (plastic card).
Congratulations! You finally receive the new stamp in your passport which is a one year multi-entry visa representing the company that you work for. The whole process usually takes around three months but this may vary. Please contact us or email mags@visa2day.com for our new shortened time frame for quotas and prices.
